About Beyond Cubicles

📢 #BeyondCubicles is a weekly LinkedIn series created by Carolina D’Souza, born out of her own experience transitioning from a corporate career to independent consulting. Since its launch in June 2024, the series has evolved into a platform that showcases the inspiring journeys of several founders who have redefined the traditional 9-to-5.

Through authentic narratives, #BeyondCubicles highlights themes of courage, resilience, and purpose. The stories feature individuals from diverse industries—ranging from tech and education to wellness and adventure—who share their experiences of stepping away from conventional roles to pursue passion-driven careers.

✨ Note: All features in this series are unpaid and shared as a way to honor and amplify real stories of transformation.

“The leap didn’t happen overnight,” says Tarryn-Leigh Green, who for years built her career in food manufacturing in the UK and the UAE.

She qualified as a chef from The Institute of Culinary Arts before moving into development and product innovation roles, working with established brands including Fortnum & Mason, Bakkavor, and Charlie Bigham’s, and overseeing private label development for retailers.

Then parenthood shifted everything.

“As a working mother, I saw first-hand how difficult it was for families to access balanced, nutritious, and more importantly clean solutions for children,” she says. “There was a gap. It felt like a fire was lit inside me.”

From that place of purpose and conviction, nyum meals was launched in 2021, grounded in the belief that “children deserved better options and that parents deserved more support too… A village around them.”

The name “Nyum” came from the joyful sound children make when they enjoy food, she explains.

Nyum Meals creates chef-crafted, nutritionist-approved meals for babies and children. “Our mission is centered around feeding future generations better and instilling healthy, balanced relationships with food that last a lifetime,” she says.

Today, the brand is available in major retailers. To get here, the journey required deep self-belief. “In corporate roles, success is often measured by systems and processes. As an entrepreneur, success is deeply personal. I’ve become more resilient, especially when the path forward isn’t obvious.”

Uncertainty, she says, “was and still is probably the hardest”.

“I had to learn to sit with discomfort, financially and emotionally, and shift my focus toward purpose and impact rather than stability alone.”

Born in South Africa, she later built her career in the UK before relocating to Dubai, where Nyum Meals was created.

“My family has been foundational, with my husband being my biggest cheerleader. However, Nyum would not exist today if it weren’t for Warren Bond, my confidant and co-founder.”

Today, she serves as VP of Diversity and Inclusion for the Emirates Culinary Guild and founded the Women’s Culinary Chapter.

Looking back, she says, “I never expected that building a kids’ food brand would also lead me into advocacy, community building, and conversations about leadership and inclusion.”

Her advice: “Entrepreneurship is grueling. Protect your passion. Without it, you lose the energy, value, and drive that carries the business forward.”
