About Beyond Cubicles

📢 #BeyondCubicles is a weekly LinkedIn series created by Carolina D’Souza, born out of her own experience transitioning from a corporate career to independent consulting. Since its launch in June 2024, the series has evolved into a platform that showcases the inspiring journeys of several founders who have redefined the traditional 9-to-5.

Through authentic narratives, #BeyondCubicles highlights themes of courage, resilience, and purpose. The stories feature individuals from diverse industries—ranging from tech and education to wellness and adventure—who share their experiences of stepping away from conventional roles to pursue passion-driven careers.

✨ Note: All features in this series are unpaid and shared as a way to honor and amplify real stories of transformation.

"Find what lights you up.”

Sajith Ansar always knew he was meant to be an entrepreneur.

He apprenticed in India, blending design education with business.

“I was learning entrepreneurship from the ground up because I wanted to create meaning at that intersection,” says Sajith.

In 2002, a short trip to Dubai became a turning point. “Freehold had just been announced, and the city felt like it was on the brink of something big. That energy was magnetic,” he says.

Captivated, he decided to stay, founding Idea Spice Design to help SMEs compete with multinationals.

“At the heart of it, we were driving transformation,” he says.

The name symbolizes the fusion of left- and right-brain thinking: ‘Idea’ for logic and structure; ‘Spice’ for creativity and emotion; together, where insight meets imagination.

Convincing businesses wasn’t easy. “The idea of paying for branding wasn’t common, especially among SMEs,” he says, adding, “Printers often threw in logos for free.”

So Sajith focused on second-generation entrepreneurs exposed to global thinking to transform their businesses.

“I realized I had to go beyond design; I also needed to understand human behavior and transformation,” he says, leading him to study NLP and coaching.

Over the years, Idea Spice has worked with more than 2,500 brands worldwide, powered by a team that feels like family.

Today, he mentors, teaches, plays padel, and prioritizes time with family, his “true grounding force”.

His personal brand mirrors his company’s values: passion, continuous growth, creativity, and empathy. “I started showing up more authentically, sharing stories, behind-the-scenes moments, and my own learnings. It helped people connect with the ‘why’ behind what I do’. Authenticity is what helped me pivot into new roles as a coach and speaker.”

Looking ahead, his passion continues through Unlimits, a tech platform he founded for personal transformation.

His advice for those considering the leap? “Find what lights you up. Build your skills around it. You don’t have to have all the answers. Just start.”

Originally from Kerala, India, Sajith describes Dubai as a “blank canvas painted with ideas”, a vision he’s bringing to life through his work.
