"Itâs now or never. Face everything and rise."
Pamela Joseph spent years teaching across the globeâHouston, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Dubai.
But no matter where she was, the question always followed: âWhy havenât you started your own school?â
âI realized I had enough experience working with various curricula to teach internationally to finally make a difference on my own terms,â she says.
In 2020, she established DARs Academy, and this year, she bravely launched a full-fledged company, DARs Solutions, FZ-LLC, named after her grandmother and mother, Dorothy Ann Rose.
âMath is my passion, so I started with just that. But it quickly expanded as parents sought help in other subjects,â she explains.
Deciding to leave her steady job wasnât without challenges. Building a clientele and stepping into the public eye on social mediaâparticularly for a private personâwas daunting.
âI learned that behind every three ânosâ thereâs a âyesâ,â she says. âAnd I came to see that social media, when used with intention, can be a powerful tool.â
Resilience, she believes, has been key to her progress.
Today, DARs Solutions is growing beyond her founding vision. âProfessionally, I can now connect with entrepreneurs and attend professional development sessions I never had time for before. Personally, Iâm free to explore my expertise without limits,â she says.
Looking back at her journeyâborn and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, moving to Houston after earning her BS in Mathematics, teaching across continents, and now embracing solopreneurshipâher advice: âSole proprietorship isnât for the faint of heart, but itâs incredibly rewarding.â
Now, with more flexibility, Pamela is dedicating time to her other passionsâpowerlifting and learning French, her motherâs native language. âIâm competing locally, and I have the time to train properly,â she says. âIâm using my newfound freedom to grow in every way.â
Her advice for those considering a career shift: âItâs now or never. Face everything and rise. Build resilience, and always bet on yourself.â
