“I had to make every minute count.”

After working as a teacher and school counselor in the UAE since 2011, Kimberly Glaspie felt a growing pull to make a deeper impact on child and family wellbeing.

“I saw the need for more comprehensive support for children and families—something that went beyond the walls of a school,” she says.

This realization became the catalyst for her leap into entrepreneurship. She left her stable role and launched Glaspie Legacy FZ-LLC, a counseling consulting service based in Dubai.

“I wanted to provide tools and resources that could truly impact children’s and families’ lives,” she says, adding, “My mission is to help build strong foundations for lifelong wellbeing through counseling and educational support.”

As a licensed counselor, Kimberly’s approach combines acceptance and commitment therapy, play-based therapy, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and mindfulness techniques.

“Every child is unique, and I tailor my support to fit their specific needs, whether it’s anxiety, behavioral concerns, or emotional regulation,” she says. She also works closely with parents to empower them with strategies for positive discipline. “When children thrive, the entire family benefits.”

The move to start her own business wasn’t without challenges. Kimberly had to navigate the uncertainty of losing a steady paycheck while establishing her own brand. “It was a big adjustment,” she says.

Balancing brand-building, client acquisition, and her part-time mental health counseling work meant prioritizing every moment. “I had to make every minute count.”

Reflecting on her journey, she says one of the biggest lessons was understanding marketing strategies and costs. Since then, she has embraced learning about business management and community outreach.

She credits her resilience to her support network. She leaned on mentors for guidance, relied on her faith, and used mindfulness practices to stay grounded. Organization was also key, with detailed scheduling helping her maximize efficiency.

Despite the hurdles, Kimberly finds the leap incredibly rewarding. “I’m finally making the broader impact I always dreamed of,” she says.

Her advice for others considering a career change? “Build a strong support network, seek guidance, and keep learning,” she says. “Lead with genuine passion for making a positive impact.”

Originally from Houston, Texas, Kimberly now feels empowered by the autonomy of running her own business. The transition has given her renewed energy and the freedom to focus on herself. She spends more time nurturing her relationships, enjoying her passions as a professional vocalist, learning to play an instrument, and dancing.

“I wanted to help people at their core—and now, I’m doing just that,” she says.
