About Beyond Cubicles

📢 #BeyondCubicles is a weekly LinkedIn series created by Carolina D’Souza, born out of her own experience transitioning from a corporate career to independent consulting. Since its launch in June 2024, the series has evolved into a platform that showcases the inspiring journeys of several founders who have redefined the traditional 9-to-5.

Through authentic narratives, #BeyondCubicles highlights themes of courage, resilience, and purpose. The stories feature individuals from diverse industries—ranging from tech and education to wellness and adventure—who share their experiences of stepping away from conventional roles to pursue passion-driven careers.

✨ Note: All features in this series are unpaid and shared as a way to honor and amplify real stories of transformation.

“I’m no longer just defined by experience, but by intention.”

Bita Bani stopped trying to earn her seat.

Instead, she stepped away from structured systems and stopped adjusting to environments that couldn’t contain her vision.

“I started building the table instead,” she says.

That decision came with an emotional cost.

“There’s a silent grief in letting go of certainty, especially when you’ve been successful by conventional standards,” she says.

But the deeper challenge wasn’t the loss of structure, it was stepping into vulnerability.

“Feeling like being exposed… you meet the raw version of yourself. No armor, no echo chamber. Just vision, doubt, and the space in between. The hardest part was confronting the silence that followed… Are you still sure, even when no one’s watching?”

That reckoning led her to create Luminari Business Club.

Founded in 2024, it is a private platform for family offices, HNWIs, and visionary investors. “The name Luminari is intentional… those who illuminate new paths: bold enough to shape legacy, not just chase returns,” she says.

Confirmation came during a meeting when she witnessed a Saudi family office and a European investor connect: two forces unlikely to cross paths otherwise “That’s when I felt it: this is what I was meant to create,” she says.

With over 17 years of international leadership across Europe, North America, and the Middle East, Bita now operates across borders, building meaningful, strategic ecosystems. She mentors founders, teaches the startup ecosystem at university level, and consults in healthcare tech.

Her personal brand has evolved “from résumé to resonance,” she says. “I’m no longer just defined by experience; I’m recognized by intention.”

What fuels her work is layered freedom: “Freedom of time: to choose how I spend my hours and with whom. Freedom of location: to work across borders and immerse in different ecosystems. Financial freedom: to invest my energy where it matters most on ideas, people, and causes that create real, lasting impact.”

Iranian-French by origin, she now calls GCC home with her company “rooted in Saudi Arabia”. She says, “It’s where my European roots, Middle Eastern intuition, and global ambitions could finally meet.”

She adds, “I never expected… the unknown would feel more like home than any corner ever did.”
